when i was on my mission ( i was spanish speaking). my companion and i were teaching this lady and as we were getting ready to leave we invited her to go to the Enrichment night at the church. i was doing the invite and i got confused. you see in spanish the word "to can" and "to get pregnant" are very similar. i invited her with the following words. "all of the sisters in the ward are going to the church on thursday to get pregnant, would you like to come? it will be lots of fun!" everyone laughed. my companion corrected me so everything turned out fine..
I had one just the other day when the kids kept going out various doors and they would knock before coming in. I was not sure why they were struggling with the doors so much and getting really frustrated when there was a knock on my garage door. Thinking that only my kids would be knocking on the garage door, I opened it yelling threats about if one more person knocks on the door they will not get to . . . Then I realized that my neighbor was standing there. Or there was the time when we lived at the dorm and the kids got out and were headed down to mom's. I had to run down the sidewalk while screaming at them to stop, in my bright pink pajamas, bed head, no makeup, no bra yeah the works. The most embarrasing part was that it was at 7:50 a.m. when everyone is trying to get to their 8:00 o'clock class and the Smith was under construction at the time. The catcalls from the construction workers DID NOT help either. I think my face was as pink as my pajamas. Those are more embarassing than awkward, but I am sure I can come up with more if those two don't work.
